Natural fluorinated hot spring water has been found in Huludao, Liaoning Province, China. Although the resources are precious, the water quality inspection report found that the iron ion content in the water exceeded the standard, reaching 1.1mg/L.

A real estate developer takes the fluorinated hot spring water as a selling point to develop real estate projects. It is necessary to remove the iron ions that exceeded the standard in the water. The treatment flow rate is 30m³/h and the iron ions content is ≤0.3mg/L.

Hot Spring Water

Raw water is groundwater, which may contain sediment. Therefore, a pre-cyclone desander was installed to filter the sediment. It is oxidized by the aeration equipment, so that divalent iron is oxidized into water-insoluble trivalent iron, and then enters two sets iron removal equipment in parallel to remove iron.

Each set of iron removal equipment adopts 6 sets DN65 Runjing electronic ball valves, equipped with a carbon steel tank with 1.6m diameter and the height is 3.6m. It is filled with JM-3 iron removal filter material, and the water after iron removal flows to the water tank. When backwash is required, control the corresponding ball valve to open and close, and backwash pump draws the filtered iron removal water from the water tank for backwashing. The backwashing strength is 15/L（m2·s）.

The treatment process of the system is as flows: Raw Water→Pre-cyclone Desander→Aeration→ Iron Removal Filter Equipment→Water Tank→Backwash Pump→Iron Removal Filter Equipment.

Equipment Site

The low torque characteristic of Runjing ceramic hard sealing ball valve can effectively control the cost of equipment and make the valve work at a safe voltage. The ceramic valve core is resistant to iron oxide erosion and has a long service life. Special ceramic can resist high water temperature and is used in hot spring water, the sealing part will not be affected.

Since the system was put into used in November, 2021, it has operated normally, the water outlet is qualified, the opening and closing of Runjing ball valve and position feedback are normal.
